The Studio

The AIR Studio, constructed in 2010, was designed by Robert Faesy Architects of Wilton.  This beautiful studio received a Certificate of Honor Award from the National Park Service. It is a compatible new construction built on the footprint of what was the former garage/carriage house within feet of the historic Cottage.  Large windows and north facing skylights allow plenty of natural light as well as adjustable electric lighting within the studio. There is a large deck off the back overlooking peaceful wetlands.

The AIR Studio is supplied with an easel, table, chair/stool, bathroom (with sink and toilet), and ample wall space. Kraft paper is available to put on the walls. The AIR Studio is situated in part of the National Park’s visitor parking area. Though there is a ‘private’ sign on the building, artists may find visitors to the park curious about the building if the outside wooden is door open.  If artists wish not to be disturbed, they may close the outer sliding door for privacy and come and go off the back-deck entrance door.
